
Philip St. G. Cocke is a founder and the President/CEO of Partner Capital Group (PCG). He began his extensive investment and financial services career with J.P. Morgan & Co. (NY) in credit analysis and international corporate banking. From Morgan he went to Wall Street and the bond business where he expanded national institutional distribution for Shearson Loeb Rhoades, grew the money market book of a major thrift, and then the institutional derivatives business of Kidder Peabody & Co. He transitioned to the asset management business as Director of Marketing for a $3.5 billion multi-asset class advisor in Washington, DC, where he lead and directed the near doubling of the firm’s asset base to $6.5 billion in less than two years. Subsequently he executed assignments as a private investment banker/consultant and placement agent, closing transactions totaling over $700 million in real estate, hedge fund investments, information technology, financial services, energy, and specialty foods. Since the founding of PCG, Phil's closed transactions have included a financial services sector fund, an emerging markets distressed debt fund, an energy sector fund, an equity long/short fund, a middle market direct lender, and an options overlay manager. Additionally, Phil has advised a global farmland investor on capital sources and a major institutional investor on the sourcing and transacting of private mezzanine financings primarily in real estate. For twelve years he served on the Board of Directors of Hamptons State Bank and for three years on the board of MediaNews Group (MNG), a $1 billion news organization. While on the MNG board Phil was a member of the Compensation Committee and the Pension Investment Committee (for the $350 million defined benefit plan and a family of defined contribution plans). He also served as the sole member of a Special Committee of the Board on a successful $122 million conflict transaction to acquire an affiliated media company. Phil is a graduate of The University of Virginia - McIntire School of Commerce with a B.S. in Finance.
